Orchids steam What do you think?
I've been asking questions about orchids a couple of times so I know I'm on the right track. I have a moth orchid (pink) and I like to keep it all the time I like. I killed one a while ago for a birthday present but I had no idea how to care for her. I'm more informed. However, I just had an idea and wanted to get the opinion of the people if they really work. I know that winter is a bit drier and you have to get stones or tray to keep it moist for the plant. It is not winter yet, but I wondered if put in the bathroom a bit would do the same? I have a very small bathroom, no air vent so the moisture stays there longer. And I have 3 people (Myself included) taking showers so that's a lot of moisture. So what do you think a good idea to put the orchid from there by moisture and take give back to the light (I have a bathroom with a window by the way) or stay with the basics. Thanks!
Can not hurt. Probably the best ground for anyone just starting with the Phalaenopsis orchids (pronounced "FAIL-en-OP-SISS). It is sometimes called the" Moth Orchid "because of the similarity of flat round flowers arranged along a curved beak to a group of moths in flight. Its origins are native to the warm south-east Asia, India and the Philippines, and does well indoors under normal conditions, such as those favored by African violets. The light should be bright but diffuse – no direct sun. It also can be grown under lights fluorescent. The most important thing is to be consistent in irrigation, avoiding the extremes of wet or dry. Good air movement is also necessary, adequate moisture. If outbreaks a newly purchased plant turn yellow and fall, the change to a much drier environment is often the cause.
